DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Process Engineer provides support for PM3 Asset with assistance being given to future developments/fields as required. Responsible in monitoring process performance principally on the PM3 Asset to ensure that the operation is in accordance with the design, that production rate is maximised within the existing constraints, that the process related environmental discharge is managed within statutory and Hibiscus limits and that the production process is operated in a safe manner.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure that the Hibiscus Operations production objectives set by the Sr Manager Production & Maintenance are met and that constraints, operating problems etc. that impact on these objectives are fully addressed.
  • Communicate the conditions necessary to achieve optimal production to Operations and keep these up to date. This will require site visits and close communications with operations personnel.
  • Use monitoring and simulation tools such as Pi Process book, HYSYS, Pipe Sim etc. to perform monitoring of plant performance and run Back Allocation simulation – which also involves close communication with Metering and Reservoir Surveillance Engineering team.
  • Review proposed modifications with offshore team, prior to raising a management of change proposal (MOC).
  • Lead, coordinate and perform agreed Technical Change Request activities (i.e. agreed studies and technical improvements to the facilities), and provide process input and data to MOC as required.
  • Liaise with both the offshore Operation Group and the Engineering Group on utility, safety and process systems operating issues.
  • Provide operational and process input to Technical Safety Review i.e RA/HAZID/HAZOP/Design Reviews and maintain the HAZOP system procedures and action status systems. Arrange or/and participate in design reviews and RA/HAZOP studies associated with design changes for operating facilities. 
  • Assist or lead process safety incident investigations and root-cause analysis (RCA) for PLMS or myOSH reporting.
  • Review and prepare operating procedures and work instructions for operating facilities.
  • Regularly review production profiles and assess process impacts from changes in fluid rates.
  • Maintain monitoring spreadsheets and report, as required, on changes in operation and recommendations for equipment change-out and operations changes.
  • Coverage of process optimization, including topsides process Optimization of topside effluent fluid monitoring, including flare, vent and produced water, process equipment operation, utility systems and subsea pipelines.  
  • Manage small studies / projects such as equipment modifications, performance surveys etc. In some cases, this will involve the supervision of external contractors and consultants.
  • Keep abreast of current offshore and onshore production technology and where appropriate instigate the use of new technologies and ideas on HML facilities.
  • Preparation of submissions to regulatory authorities.
  • Assist in preparing tender plans and evaluate bids for assigned contracts.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new/alternative well technology with the aim to enhance reliability, improve asset integrity or reduce costs.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification from recognized universities.
  • At least 5-7 years’ experience in the oil and gas operational support. It would be minimum of 2 assuming graduate engineers 0-2 years
    • First rate technical skills with a broad range of process knowledge. 
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Quality written and oral skills.
    • Ability to work with diverse group of people ranging from technical staff to onsite operations staff.
    • Site supervision and commissioning skills in the field including troubleshooting.
    • Basic economic evaluation techniques.
  • Previous experience with Process and Flow simulation programs
